So even though I don’t post about it much I am still buying nail varnish and painting my nails like a woman possessed. Today I was creating a double page for my gorgeous niece, Macayla, in my Smash Book when I was hit with the inspiration to use watch parts so create a steampunk manicure!
I bought the parts from eBay some time ago to use in my scrapbooking endeavors, so while I was fishing through my embellishments trays, I was looking at the little parts and thought, “These would work as decorations for nails and would make a killer steampunk manicure!” It took me a while to fish through them and find the thinnest parts because I absolutely hate having chunky nail decorations, but once I had a few together I got comfy in front of the TV (where I usual do my nails) and got cracking. Some of the wider pieces I had to bend to get them to fit the curve of my nails which was a bit tough as they are made of very strong metals. I started with my usual base coat of OPI’s Nail Envy and then 2 coats of Essie – Licorice. Once that was dry I used a tiny dab of clear nail varnish on the bottom on each piece and used tweezers to place them on my nail. Once I’d done one hand I topped each nail off with a thick coat on Seche Vite then started on the other hand. A 2nd tick coat of Seche Vite was needed to finish it off.
This is how it came out…
It’s not something I’ve seen before and I’m really, really happy with how it came out and I’ve received really positive feedback on them.
